A sequel to the acclaimed 2019 film, “The Platform 2” continues the unsettling exploration of survival in a vertical prison. Released on October 4, 2024, on Netflix, this Spanish horror thriller is directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, who returns to helm the project after the success of the original.
Set in the same grim structure as its predecessor, the film introduces new characters while maintaining the core premise. In this dystopian world, inmates are assigned to different floors, with food delivered via a descending platform. Those on higher levels feast while those below face starvation. The sequel deepens this concept, presenting a new food distribution system that sparks conflict among the residents. Central characters Perempuan, played by Milena Smit, and Zamiatin, portrayed by Hovik Keuchkerian, navigate this brutal environment and confront the harsh realities of their existence.

Producers Carlos Juárez and Raquel Perea join Gaztelu-Urrutia in bringing this project to life under Basque Films. The screenplay is a collaborative effort involving David Desola, Egoitz Moreno, and Gaztelu-Urrutia himself.
Viewers can catch “The Platform 2” exclusively on Netflix, where it joins a growing catalog of original films that challenge audiences with thought-provoking themes. The runtime is approximately 99 minutes, making it a compact yet intense viewing experience.
