Eden (2025) is a survival thriller directed by Ron Howard, inspired by the shocking true events that unfolded on Floreana Island in the Galápagos during the late 1920s. With a score by legendary composer Hans Zimmer, Eden is about to be as one of the most anticipated movies of the year for psychological drama and historical intrigue.

Set in 1929, Eden follows a group of disillusioned Europeans who abandon civilization, convinced that society is corrupting humanity’s true nature. Seeking paradise, they settle on the remote and inhospitable Floreana Island in the Galápagos. What begins as a quest for utopia quickly devolves into a psychological battleground as the settlers face not only the brutal climate and deadly wildlife, but also the slow erosion of trust, civility, and morality among themselves.

The story centers on Dr. Friedrich Ritter and his partner Dora Strauch, who leave Germany for a life of self-reliance and peace. Their solitude is disrupted by the arrival of the idealistic Wittmer family and the flamboyant Baroness Eloise Bosquet de Wagner Wehrhorn, who dreams of building a luxury hotel on the island. As desperation rises, alliances fracture, and the greatest threat to survival becomes each other. The movie’s tension is heightened by the real-life mystery of the unsolved deaths that plagued the colony.

Eden Cast: Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Brühl, Sydney Sweeney, Jonathan Tittel, Richard Roxburgh.
