The nostalgic sound of Stranger Things wouldn’t be possible without the genius of composers Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon. As members of the electronic band S U R V I V E, the duo was discovered by the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, who were drawn to their synth-driven, horror-inspired music. Before Stranger Things, Stein and Dixon’s work was featured in the 2014 thriller The Guest, which caught the attention of the Duffer Brothers. They even used S U R V I V E’s track “Dirge” in a mock trailer to pitch the show to Netflix.

For Season 5, Stein and Dixon are returning to compose the score, and they’ve already begun working on the soundtrack. According to Stein, the music for the final season will have ties to Season 4 but will also “arch back to earlier seasons”, blending familiar themes with new sonic explorations.
